Got questions? We have answers. Here are the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.
What is your policy on pets and children staying at the Captain Visger House?
As much as I enjoy children the house is not child-proofed so as a policy we do not allow children because it is not a safe environment. The only exception is infants. Pets are determined on a per request basis. You must call if you want to discuss this.
Is smoking allowed?
There is absolutely no smoking in the house. A fee of $500.00 will be charged to anyone breaking this rule. Smoking is permitted outside. We provide ash trays.
Your inn offers complimentary breakfast. What if I have dietary restrictions?
That is no problem. However, advanced notification of dietary restrictions is essential. Food is prepared fresh for guests every day. If the house is not made aware of dietary restrictions or preferences the necessary ingredients may not be on hand.
Do the rooms have en-suite bathrooms?
Yes. Every room has en suite bathroom.
Is there a shower or bath in the bathroom?
All bathrooms have a shower/bathtub combination.
What amenities do rooms offer?
Each room has its own climate/temperature control system for personal comfort. There is free WiFi throughout the house.
How many people does each room accommodate?
Captain's Suite accommodates 1-3 guests. The room has a twin-day bed available to accommodate the third guest.
Harmonius accommodates 1-2 guests.
Catherine July accommodates 1-2 guests.
Lavina's Retreat accommodates 1-2 guests.
Do you have TV's in the Captain Visger House?
We used to, but we no longer have TV's in the Captain Visger House.
Does the house offer disability access?
The Kitchen has full disability access for dining guests. Unfortunately, The Captain Visger House rooms do not have disability access because they are on the second floor.
What if we want to travel into Canada?
Passports or enhanced state drivers license are required for all US citizens to enter Canada. Visitors from other countries will need to check the requirements of their country.
What is your cancellation policy?
Refunds are provided for cancellations made at least 14-days prior to occupancy, less a non-refundable $20.00 cancellation fee per room booked.
There is no refund provided for cancellations made within the 14-day period unless we are able to rebook your room. Every attempt will be made to do this for you. You have the option of taking a "rain-check" for a future stay, reservations subject to availability.
Cancellations less than 48 hours prior to occupancy will be charged the full amount of the cost of the stay.
How can I make a reservation to eat at your in-house restaurant?
We are a very small operation. To keep it simple, at this time, we do not take reservations for The Kitchen. We encourage you to swing by, put your name down, and enjoy a cocktail at the bar while you wait for a table.
Does your restaurant offer take out?
Yes The Kitchen does offer take out! But we do not take orders by phone. We encourage you to stop by, make your order, and while you are waiting you can either take a leisurely stroll down into the village main street, or to the pavilion to enjoy stunning views of Boldt Castle. Better yet, sit back and relax at our bar and enjoy a drink while you are waiting!
